Mission Statement
Although Sally lost her battle with sarcoma, we want to keep the gloves on and fight to knock out the cancer that took her from us.
On the basis of overall Sarcoma incidence compared to other cancers, the current amount of National Cancer Institute funding for sarcoma should be approximately $50 million, but actually it is only 1/10th of that amount - approximately $5,000,000.
The problem is exacerbated because only a few hospitals and cancer centers have the extensive multidisciplinary treatment and research programs needed to develop new therapies for this disease. As a result, sarcoma research has attracted proportionately less funding and investigative attention, and progress has been too slow to help many sarcoma patients need.
M.D. Anderson Cancer Center has gratefully acknowledged the critical part the Sally M. Kingsbury Sarcoma Foundation has played towards defraying the annual $750,000 cost needed to sustain the Sarcoma Research Laboratory at MD Anderson.
Our Mission is to continue to help fund research facilities dedicated to finding a cure for sarcoma. Your purchase of Knock Out™ Roses, your participation in our events and your ongoing contributions will help achieve our goal.
