Mission Statement

Although Sally lost her battle with sarcoma, we want to keep the gloves on and fight to knock out the cancer that took her from us.

On the basis of overall Sarcoma incidence compared to other cancers, the current amount of National Cancer Institute funding for sarcoma should be approximately $50 million, but actually only 1/10th of that amount - approximately $5,000,000 in 2007.

The problem is exacerbated because only a few hospitals and cancer centers world wide have the extensive multidisciplinary treatment and research programs needed to develop new therapies for this disease. As a result, sarcoma research has attracted proportionately less funding and investigative attention, and progress has been slower than what sarcoma patients need.

The Sally M. Kingsbury Sarcoma Foundation is gratefully acknowledged as being critical towards defraying the annual cost of approximately $750,000 needed to sustain the Sarcoma Research Laboratory., at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.

Our Mission is to continue to help fund research facilities dedicated to finding a cure for sarcoma. Your purchase of Knock Out™ Roses, participating in our events and your ongoing contributions will help to achieve this goal.
